THE MAN

Full of JOY!

I have a funny daughter. Let me rephrase.... I have a hilarious daughter. While Mari has a way of making me smile for sure, my firstborn, (the always mischievious, never boring, side-splittingly funny) MYAH is who this blog is all about.
She has recently become very interested in pretend play, especially some form of waitress/chef/customer. In this play scenario she often "cooks" some delicious food, like "Lemonade Pie" or "Milk Soup". Of course I always put on my taste tester voice and make some clever comment about what an amazing dish she brought me. Anyway, my friend from WI, Renee, was over, so Myah wanted to show her the playroom to have some fun with her.
The four of us: Renee, Phil, Myah and myself, all went down and played with a variety of toys after the baby went to seep. Myah was in her usual entertaining mood: dancing, silly talk, jumping, etc, when she decided to play waitress. She brought Phil a "menu" (actually a part of an easy bake oven type thing my mom gave her) which had 6 pictures of different types of muffins. He pointed to the one in the middle (looked like a chocolate chip) and asked if she would bring him a Chocolate Chip muffin.  Myah replied matter-of-factly, "Um let me check". She walked the four steps over to her kitchen set, mumbled something to a pretend person, and then came back to Phil and reported that, "Well, the Man said No. Sorry. But you can have this one!" (Pointing at another muffin on the menu)
We all burst out laughing- so hard that I had a good cry. Who is this man? and why can't he share the chocolate chip muffin? This went on the rest of the night, and neither Renee nor I could get a chocolate chip muffin out of "The Man". Myah kept "asking" him, but to no avail. So we ate all the other pretend mufins on the menu.
The story was so cute it remained an inside joke between Renee and I for a couple of weeks. Then, last night, Phil and Myah went down to play with her kitchen set. She again brought him the muffin "menu" and Phil asked if he could have the one in the middle, the chocolate chip muffin. Myah said,
"Hang on, let me find my phone" She proceeded to call the notorious "Man" and was laughing, and said "Oh uh-huh. Um, okay" She hung up the phone and reported to Daddy that "The Man said OK." Phil was happy to finally be able to get his chocolate chip muffin.
After having a particularly hard day yesterday, Myah sure brightenened it. Enjoy the video above, of Myah singing her version of one of our favorite songs, "I'm Not Perfect!".
Fun in the first snow of the year!
