Backwards

I've been doing a whole lot of reflecting lately, but especially on God's plan and intentions for this world. As I find myself getting caught up in fall TV and football season, I realize the ridiculous amount of money spent on things in this world. Like how the NFL spent probably thousands upon thousands of dollars on pink items to "support" breast cancer awareness. A pair of pink cleats that they'll never wear again, pink gloves, pink towels, pink chin guards, pink caps.....wow. Now, if they would just take all of that money they spent on these items (that they'll wear once and get rid of) and donate it all to breast cancer, then that would impress me. If the $100 they spent on the pink cleats was to go straight to Susan G Kolman fund (instead of the $10 proceeds or whatever it may be) I would actually think highly of these guys.
Don't get me wrong, I really enjoy sitting back and watching a football game, but I sure get irritated when a running back or wide receiver pounds his chest and celebrates every time he breaks a tackle or puts 6 points on the board. I mean, after all, it is what he is PAID to do. Because he has a particular skill in a particular activity. I couldn't do that, but I would bet that most of the guys in the NFL couldn't do what I do, either.
I get paid to help children develop, grow, and function independently despite difficult circumstances and disabilities. Maybe every time one of my kids meets a goal I've created, I should have a celebration!
Pro sports payrolls just boggle me. These guys are paid a whole lot more than anyone I know. And I know a lot of smart, incredible, good people. A couple that come to mind: a biochemist, a heart surgeon, a midwife, a therapist, a pastor. Now these people are changing lives and making a difference in this world..........
but that reminds me of why I started blogging tonight. God constantly reminds us in His word that we are not of this world. It's not supposed to make sense to me. Having more money would just get me more things, and if you've been at my house lately you can clearly see by the mess that I certainly don't need any more things. All I really need is pictured below....
