"I Don't Want to Grow Up!"
A sunhat and jammies- the right combo for sure! |
I think it's time that I share the Peter Pan movie with Myah. ;) I told her a couple of weeks ago that I love her just the way she is and that I NEVER want her to grow up! This was after we witnessed some big kids being obnoxious and disrespectful. I do often wish I could just bottle up this time and keep the girls just the way they are- for at least a couple more years. So innocent (mostly!) and pure, expressing true and raw emotion on a daily basis. The honesty, joy and fun that oozes from my two little girls is in itself worth an entire lifetime of living!
Our lives are as usual, BUSY, but I keep trying to slow down to take in all the wonderful and joyous things happening--despite the sad news and crazy things happening around us or in the news. I have joined a mom's running club to try to learn how to run better, and have been keeping busy picking up extra on call hours and doula clients. Phil is now training for Twin Cities Marathon this October. We have big backyard projects as we (with the help of Rob) just moved our shed and inherited a gigantic play set from the neighbors. This means a lot of other yard work- finding a new vegetable garden spot, moving a couple of bushes, putting up a fence, etc etc. It will be a big job but GREAT when all finished!
Preschool graduation fun! |
Myah update:
Our sweet and spunky 3 year old just graduated from her first year of preschool. We enjoyed a delightful last day in her classroom, as she and her buddies performed a rendition of "Trust and Obey" as well as "Good Morning, God". She has mastered her trike and LOVES swimming this year. We hope to do more swimming at the lake and in Papou's pool this summer to enjoy the long hot days coming up! Myah is learning everyday more and more about how to be independent and how to make good, polite choices within our family dynamic. Some days definitely challenge us as parents right now, as we realize just how "spirited" and bright Myah truly is. Myah's favorite things: (all quotes from Myah): dress up with baby dolls, arts and crafts, playing in the mud, going to the Twins game, playing with sister, swinging, reading books, mommy's iTouch, and gardening/yardwork with mommy and daddy. Myah's least favorite things right now: bedtime, thunderstorms and tornadoes :( , sleeping in.
Mariana Update:
We are preparing for the ever important 1st BIRTHDAY PARTY! Can't believe Mari is graduating from baby to toddlerhood! CRAZY! She is cruising along any furniture she can get her hands to pull herself up on and taking a few steps here and there between people or things. She is such a sweetheart and a champ at putting up with her big sister's energy and lack of body awareness. She also is eating nearly all solid foods now. She LOVES meat! She also gobbles up broccoli and peas. She has a kind and tolerant personality, but is really active right now (new for her). She is starting to talk, and says, " Ay ya ya (Myah), BeBe (baby), Da da, Mama, Ah Dah (all done), hi da (Hi Dad), duh (duck or dog), puh (up)". She is climbing all over the place and loves: balls, anything Myah plays with, bathtime, putting things in and out of containers, swinging, walking behind push toys, and dancing. Mariana's least favorite things right now: bananas, baby gates, changing clothes, when mommy leaves the room.
About to tackle the stairs (with a small baby doll in hand) |
I turned 29 this past week and realized that I too, don't really want to grow up! I will bask in the glory of my 20's just one more year before I turn "29 plus shipping and handling" (as my mom puts it) for the next several years. :)
Beautiful night for a Twins game! |
Blessings.
