Settling In
Wow! Three weeks have come and gone by so quickly. Things must be settling down, because I actually caught myself smiling and enjoying peaceful, quiet time with Mariana last night after Myah went to bed. Also, yesterday I noticed that there were multiple times I could say to Myah, "Wow! Nice job being so gentle!" That has probably been the hardest thing about parenting the girls so far. Myah has so much curiosity about the baby, but it's as though her brain can't quite keep her body under control most of the time. Sometime she squeezes Mariana out of pure excitement (so hard that Mariana screams in pain- especially annoying if I've just gotten her to sleep or calm), and I can understand it, because sometimes I find MYSELF with the urge to squeeze her (but for a different reason- because she's so cute and precious!)
Myah and I are planning to go on a date soon- just she and I! I think: shopping in Maple Grove, perhaps the bookstore, dinner, and a new outfit for both of us! That should help her to feel special. Sometimes lately she says, "Mommy I feel so sick" with crocodile tears in her eyes, when she's had to be ignored if the baby is nursing or crying. ("Sick" is her way of saying "sad" these days, and frankly, it probably does hurt her inside :( awwww. )
Mari is quickly becoming less of a newborn. She smiles all the time now, especially at mommy and daddy, and she has rolled over several times from tummy to back. Pretty young for that, although it's mostly gravity working with her head. However, she really pushes up onto her arms with her legs. She just started cooing at us, which is hilarious. She and Myah have really similar voices. I call it the "rock star voice"- kind of raspy and harsh.
Thanks to family and friends for continued love and support. We've had lots of meals prepared for us (which have been delicious) and lots of prayers and offers to help out in other ways. I apologize for the unreturned emails and calls, I'm still finding it hard to keep up with the normal everyday things.
I did get our friend, Dre to come over and take pictures for me while Mari still is like a newborn. She (of course) is amazing at any creative endeavor. These are some of what she did....

These photos are absolutely gorgeous! (probably helps that you and your family are as well) but wow! Nice to have such a creative friend! Hope things are settling down for you. We are starting to get into some routines at our house...sometimes : )
